Fallen Woman of Világos from Red Sage Publishing

I have a new release coming out with Red Sage Publishing on April 1st entitled, Fallen Woman of Világos. It is an erotic historical romance and I hope you’ll enjoy reading it:-) Here’s a little more about the story:

“Karolina’s survival is dependent upon her wits and beauty. She uses men as they use her, remaining with them only long enough to take what she needs before disappearing in the night. Barely escaping her last relationship with her life, and with little more than the clothes on her back, she is in desperate need of a benefactor.

She hatches a plan to feign amnesia in the hope of obtaining assistance from a stranger, but not just any stranger. If she is lucky, she will employ the ruse on a man of means. When she spies a grand house nestled on the outskirts of Vienna, she decides upon it as her destination. Will she convince the inhabitant to provide her shelter until she determines her next move? No widow, spinster, or doddering old fool—the master of this house is a handsome and virile man, whose eyes sparkle with intelligence.

Lukas Holt is surprised by the appearance of a woman at his door. Although skeptical of her story, he allows her entry. As a doctor, he is eager to help her regain her memory, as a man, he is intent upon healing her—body and soul. She is clearly in need, but more so, there is something hauntingly familiar about her…

Nothing will prepare him for her shocking revelations. The good doctor comes to a stunning conclusion regarding who this woman is…and why he can never let her go.”

Now available at Amazon & B&N.

Six sentences from Adelaide’s Adventure

Hello again! Another Sunday is here and it’s that time again. I have for you another six from my latest release, Adelaide’s Adventure, an erotic historical romance published by Noble Romance. Also, I’ve just completed edits on my forthcoming novella, Fallen Woman of Világos, which will be published by Red Sage. If all goes well, I’m hoping for an April release. I’ll tell you more about it soon.

We last left Addie in a compromising situation. There she is, all alone, stuck in a stagecoach with Mr. Winters. Their journey has just begun. He’d really like to get to know her much better, but she isn’t so sure about his intentions…Will she or won’t she submit to his request?

“He seemed to her a wild creature, embodying the aspects of various predators. She observed his lupine grin, the strength of his sparkling white teeth, and the pink of his serpentine tongue as he spoke to her. The beast was broad of chest and hale. His voice was rich and strong. The sound resonated within her, striking a sinful yet harmonious chord. Submit?”

Self Publishing ~ Taking the Plunge

My contract with eXcessica had ended. What to do with, A Day in April, 1944? Instead of shopping it around, (I don’t think there are very many publishers out there right now interested in works that have been published already, plus, I didn’t want to have to wait for possibly months to get a response that may or may not be favorable) ~ I decided to try and publish it myself and see what happens. This little novella, A Day in April, 1944, received great reviews but wasn’t selling very well…I’m hoping the reasons had more to do with the fact that the storyline isn’t really in line with what they sold, and perhaps the cover art didn’t really grab readers? (Maybe not, but it makes me feel better to believe this faulty logic:-)?

Where to start? I definitely wanted to get it up on Amazon, All Romance ebooks, and maybe Siren-Bookstrand. First things first ~ I needed a new, attention grabbing cover…In comes Elaina Lee of For the Muse Designs, a fellow author and traveler on the All Romantic Suspense Blog tour (quite talented she is), and an amazing cover artist! After sharing my vision, and trusting to her artistic talents, she created a cover worthy of the story. Don’t you think? Thanks, Elaina!

Now that I had the cover I’d envisioned, it was time to get to work and figure out how to do the technical work involved with making it accessible to readers. I’m no techie…I use my mac to write and blog and tweet…but don’t really know about the other stuff that tends to make my eyes glaze over! Not good! I had an MS word file in hand, but no knowledge about how to convert it into those files necessary for e-readers to access my story:-(. I suppose with much effort I could teach myself, but to be honest, I just don’t have it in me to learn all the intricacies of doing so.

So, who came to my rescue this time? The wonderful folks on the Kindleboards! A wonderful supportive group over there:-). I learned about Scrivener, a program that would quickly and easily compile my file:-) so that I could upload it to Amazon. I downloaded a trial version (which I plan on purchasing), not only for the ease of use regarding the conversion, but for all that it can do for a writer like me…(Post-it notes, lost notes, good ideas strewn about.) Scrivener has so many wonderful features that will help me to organize my work! There is still so much I need to learn about it, but I’m sold.

This is not to say that the process was not without some tense moments…but with help from the Kindleboards folk, (click to read thread), and a bit of luck, somehow I uploaded the file(s) successfully to Amazon and ARe. (I think!) I know some of you are thinking, “What is she talking about”? Or, “She doesn’t know what she’s talking about!” I can assure you that both statements are true:-) I won’t go into the technical details and the minor problems I had. I will say that I did it ~ but I’m not really sure how…I may use the services of an ebook conversion site, (recommendations on Kindleboards and ARe), because I haven’t converted all my files to all the possible formats available and I’m not sure if I want to try:-).

I don’t want to give you the impression that everything is perfect! It’s not. Right now, on Amazon, if an author search is performed, A Day in April, 1944 doesn’t appear. If you search for the title it’s okay. Well, this isn’t very conducive to sales if readers can’t find the book by searching the author…I’m working on that particular issue:-) All Romance ebooks is wonderful. There is no waiting period. As soon as you upload your book, it goes live. (You do have to wait for your account to be approved, though ~ fairly quick, around 24 hours.) So what to price the book? At this point, I want to attract new readers so I’m offering the title for $0.99. I can always raise it later if I wish.

That’s it for now. We’ll see how it goes:-). Whew, I’m exhausted! But, if you’re considered self-publishing some of your backtitles or new works, I’m here to tell you that if I can do it, so can you:-).

Look What I’ve Got:-)

This morning my cover for Adelaide’s Adventure arrived…It immediately brought a HUGE smile to my face because I absolutely LOVE it! What a wonderful way to start the day. It was created by the incredibly talented author and cover artist, Fiona Jayde ! Thanks, Fiona:-):-):-)

It’s gorgeous ~ don’t you think?

Excerpt from Heph’s Revenge

Heph’s Revenge will appear in eXcessica’s, Divine Matches anthology which will be released on January 17, 2011. I know it’s a long way off, but I thought I’d give you a little preview. It was a story that I enjoyed writing:-).

Here’s the blurb:

Hephaestus, the god of fire turns voyeur in an attempt to catch his lovely bride Aphrodite in the act with Ares, the god of war. Will Heph get his revenge, or something more than he bargained for?

Here’s the excerpt:

You can be certain that arranged marriages do not always result in happy marriages. It was especially true with this one. We had problems from the start. The fact that she towered several inches over me did little for my ego. When she looked down upon me, it hurt. I tried to please her…I found that she was always more pleasant after receiving a trinket or two, or three. I crafted her magnificent pieces. Her jewelry was coveted by all the goddesses, not to mention her magic girdle—which made her irresistible—as if she wasn’t already. Each day I would bring her another offering and she seemed genuinely pleased by my efforts. But somehow I could not shake the feeling that something rotten was going on right beneath my nose.

There were times when I could not find her. It mattered not where I looked or how loudly I called, she failed to appear. She would explain afterwards that she didn’t hear me because she had bathed in the babbling brook and it had been especially loud that day. It was always some excuse; apparently I didn’t look hard enough or call loud enough. Jackass that I was, I believed her. I can still recall the heavy scent of sex that clung to her during these periods. It was the same scent that Ares wore…I saw the way he eyed her—and the way she looked back at him.

I would not be cuckolded. And so this is how I got my revenge…

With my suspicions aroused I spent many long hours in my forge on Lemnos, my hammer and anvil my only company. There I crafted a finely spun net of gossamer threads. Nearly invisible to the eye, no mortal or god could break free of them once ensnared. I kept to myself during that period, and Aphrodite was none the wiser. I can only imagine that she reveled in the freedom provided by my frequent and lengthy absences.

No sooner had I completed the netting then Helios confirmed my suspicions. He came to me as a friend and imparted the news that just that morning he spotted the couple frolicking on the bank of a river—in broad daylight. Ares playfully chased my fair and unfaithful bride. His cock stiff with desire, he plunged into her on the sandy shores. According to Helios, my flirtatious and frolicsome Aphrodite was no innocent. She willingly parted her thighs and allowed him access to her moist yet fiery depths.

“If you lie in wait, my friend, you shall witness her infidelity with your own eyes,” said Helios.  It touched me that he had traveled so far from his element to bring me the unfortunate, but not unexpected news. We had a long history, Helios and I. I could see that it pained him to tell me, but he thought I needed to know. I wiped the sweat from my brow and patted him on the back, thanking him.

“I will repay the favor, Helios,” I said. He hopped into his chariot, waved and was gone. It couldn’t be too soon for me. I had work to do. I placed the gossamer net into a bag and returned to Olympus, determined to catch the deceitful pair in the act. I did not have long to wait.

It would have been foolish to announce my arrival to my lovely wife. Instead, I snuck around the side of the palace and methodically peeked into each window. When I was certain that Aphrodite was not there, I covered our palatial bed with the netting and waited inside her wardrobe closet where she stored her innumerable gowns. It was close enough to provide me with a bird’s eye view of the bed and was well within earshot to hear each damning word. I brought along cool drinks and refreshments for the coming entertainment. I was not disappointed.
